This space is for proposing research questions related to the differences in learning styles between digital natives and digital immigrants. By the end of the week (Sunday) we should have a pretty good list of both main questions and guiding questions. --Wendi

Wendi's Proposed Research Questions

Main Research Question: What are the differences in learning styles between digital natives and digital immigrants that affects performance in customer contact centers?
Focused Research Question 1: What are the characteristics of digital immigrants and digital natives?
Focused Research Question 2: What are the measurements of performance in customer contact centers?

I await the discussion!

Good Evening Team!

Am I to assume that since my questions are the only ones posted her that this is what we are all comfortable doing? Please let me know if you need assistance in posting your questions or what opinions you have in regards to what we choose to research and build a project presentation on.

Thanks,

Wendi

Wendi - I do not have prior knowledge to draw from in regards to customer contact centers. This sounds like an area that you however are very familiar with. I think we need to wait to see what others have to add to the table before we come to any definite conclusions - cheryl d.

After evaluating all the suggestions in our group, I made changes to my research questions. It appears that the main thrust of our outlook is how to effectively train digital natives and immigrants. Two of you included teaching and so I thought it might be good to narrow it down to a specific learning environment.
Revised Main Research Question: How can Instructional Designers design an online program that addresses the needs of the digital natives and digital immigrants in an online university setting?

Guided Questions: What kind of services can an online university provide to challenge the digital immigrant and assist the digital immigrant?
Guided Questions: How can an online university create an environment, where digital natives and digital immigrants learn from each other for the benefit of the whole?

3/16 Ashley McCormick Research topic & questions

How can an Instructional Designers develop a program that fits the needs of both digital natives and digital immigrants?

What are digital natives and digital immigrants?

What are the definable learning styles of each?

Can these learning styles be integrated? If so, how?

Holy cow, team! These questions look great! Cheryl, I am going to assume you posted the revised questions. I think both you and Ashley are on the right track and I think our best bet, to keep it on topic and favorable with Dr. Porter and the rest of the class, we should think about combining the two. Trust me, I learned a lesson in reading the responses to my research question :-)

Here's my idea for a research question. It's rough, but comments are always welcome:

Main Question: How can instructional designers design and develop an online program that addresses the needs of both digital native and digital immigrants?

For the guided questions:

Guided Question: What are the learning needs of digital natives and digital immigrants?

Guided Question: What defines an online program?

Guided Question: How can an online program benefit both digital natives and digital immigrants?

Now, whatever we decide, I have no problem drafting out the Prezi but, that means someone will need to take care of the research paper if that's what we decide. If anyone else has any different opinions, I am all ears.

I await your thoughts.

Wendi
